Marty, you da man!
Nice upgrade to the solid states. What,s the effective benfit in this application? Do they run cooler? less likely to fail? My limited knowledge led me to believe their value was in mobile solutions due to being more rugged due to no moving parts.
What else do u use this box for other than hosting discap?

The main goal was speed. I host two websites, and the other (for my fiance's photo business) is very image heavy. I'm not sure how much it actually helped in that regard. I have to do some more testing. I'm pretty sure having roadrunner is the main bottleneck in terms of speed now. I have road runner turbo, and the download speed is ridiculously fast, but the upload (sending data out) is still very slow (~ 1mbs). This website seems VERY fast now--because its pretty simple no heavy images.

zip-The main benefit of SSDs is that they are MUCH MUCH faster than magnetic HDDs. Somewhere on the order of 3-5x faster in terms of raw read/write rates. shock resistance is obviously a plus as well. They are tiny and super lightweight, have no moving mechanical parts that can fail. They also use less power. my old server was a power hog.. with 6 hard drives and other old hardware. This new server only draws about 20watts at idle!

I did quite a bit of research on SSDs, it seems like they are finally becoming relatively mainstream, reliable, and cheaper. flooding in thailand wiped out almost all the main hard drive manufacturers so hard drive prices are almost triple what they were 6 months ago. I just got a 60gb SSD for around $100. comparatively, 6 months ago I built a 4TB NAS for backups and media (thats the other box in the picture) the 2TB HDD drives for around $60 each.

I just picked up UPS battery backup today, the last piece of the puzzle:
http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/ups-systems/soho-ups/cp625hg.html

So my cable modem, router, 4TB NAS system, and new webserver only draw 33 watts! thats pretty unreal. 68 minutes of battery time. It comes with a cool little app that will do an orderly shutdown of the server, email me, etc.

yada yada yada
all I can say is Thanks!
for whatever the hell it is you do :D
But seriously, I have a request so simple, you'll whip it up in no time.
Could we change our picture banner to something with J Park in the background
with the NYS Championships written over it?
I have no idea if that's a 1 hour task or a one day chore
Don't sweat it. Just a random thought
Carry on

I want to reiterate again that I moved the site to Wordpress so that I can give certain people logins so they can edit the discap.net content like on the course pages, the store, links, etc..... Its relatively straightforward blog interface that is used by tons of people. A 10 minute tutorial is probably all anyone needs.

Absolutely agreed. WordPress is one of the easiest platforms out there. I use it for both of my blogs. Very straightforward and different permissions can be given for different people.
