Rolling Ace Pot?

Post by closed » Tue Feb 26, 2013 6:16 pm

Has anyone ever considered having a rolling Ace Pot for the DisCap tournaments? Basically if it is not hit at at April Showers it rolls over to J-Park Jammer, then to Play It Again, and so on. It might be a way to entice people to come to the later tournaments. Then if it's not hit at the Hunter then do the CTP.

This year, all unhit ace pots at NEFA tournaments will be donated to the NEDGC in October.

I like Ace Pots that are decided at the tournament. Rolling it to a later tournament doesn't work for me. I may not be at the
next tournament. And a larger Ace Pot does not influence my decision to attend a tournament. Rolling Ace Pots at league events
where there is pretty much the same players every week, I like that.
I think the bigger Ace Pot for the NEFA Finals is another attempt to ensure good attendance

I prefer Ace Pots to pay out the same day, always. I only pay in on courses with holes short enough or windy days I feel lucky.

Added cash for the Championship NEFA event is not good?

Each region is required to contribute a minimum of $250
$250 X 5 regions = $1250 towards the Championship weekend.
Pros and Ams will benefit from this.
With 6 NEC qualifier events in our region, each event only needs to raise $42.

Yes it is good. I think there are better ways to increase the Payout.

I think Ace Pots should be decided at the event. The Ace Pot throw-off is a fun event. It gives everyone a chance for 1st-3rd. It seems very fair, and everyone is happy.

The Turkey Throwdown Ace Pot Throw off was awesome. If you had said-"We are giving the Ace Pot Money to the NEDGC, instead of a throw off, I think it would leave a bad impression.

Many players who will attend DisCap events in 2013 will not be attending the New England Championships-Ie Central New York Players etc.

The "local" money should stay home, not be used to support another tournament that many will not attend.
Is the TD "required" to forward the Ace Pot to the NEC tournament? Or does the TD get to decide where the $42
tax will come from?

TDs are free to raise the added cash however they like.
The unclaimed ace pot money was a choice that all NY/NJ TDs have agreed upon.

How is this different than the $1 per player NEFA "tax" that's been taken from non-NEFA players? Actually it IS different because the Ace Pot entry is optional.

It'll all be announced prior to the tournament so players will have a clear idea what is going where.

Do we have to give the entire unhit ace pot? I would be ok with a 50/50 split. It would allow us to throw off for unhit ace pot. I don't think a ctp throw should get the entire pot that's why we have split the ctp throw off 50%, 30%, 20%. I wouldn't mind cutting out the 30% and 20% payout for the ctp throwoff to split with nec. This let's us let players who paid in have a chance at winning some cash & still support nec.

DisCap is running 3 NEC qualifiers this year so we're basically responsible for raising half of the $250.
I'll agree to whatever method of fundraising as long as we hit the mark.
If by chance all/some of the ace pots are hit in these three tournaments, we need to have a back-up plan to cover the duifference.

I'm open to ideas........

Voluntary donation bucket?
Basket raffle?
Ask the club to make up the difference from the general fund?

I'm gonna start a separate thread in Gen DISCussion.
