A student from RPI has contacted me asking for help to design a course in Prospect Park. Sounds like he's got a group of students together(a club) and written a proposal for the city. I'm going to hook up with him to see what he's got planned.

The disc golf bug has bitten the capital area again...........Stay tuned

Matt Deangelis created an object course at Prospect Park when he went to RPI. He said it was a great park for a course.

You might want to contact him for any info/help he may have.

So I went to prospect park yesterday after work. BTW the gates close just before sunset. I got there 4:30 and the gates were locked. Had to foot it. This park has potential. There is alot of unused steep elevation area of woods that surround the main park area. If we could get into these areas that would be great. If we need to stay in the park common area there is room for maybe 9 but we need to be careful. The wooded slope goes all the way down to the poestenkill. If this is still park property the holes down in that area would be way cool. I'm not sure how much use this park gets as yesterday evening is not a gauge. But there are some nice open hills, an area around a playground that would be good for exposure (let the kiddies see what were doing they are the players of the future). There is a bunch of roads in the park so the "let er rip" kinda hole is not really gonna be doable. As greg said a technical course would work in here. Jeff keep us posted on news.

I haven't been to Prospect in awhile, but it was always busy in the summer. I think the field on Congress street side is part of it, but don't quote me. If it is, you could run a distance pin from nearish the road toward the hill, less chance of car problems, the stairs there would be cool to use if they could be incorporated. The hill would be a big challenge to throw up to a pin, possibly make a switchback that pros could 1 or 2 shot but ams have their own path? I believe near that field is an old railway tunnel that is going to be filled in (might have already happened). Just some ideas that might help with planning.

A new guy has emerged with an interest in putting a course in this park. Kenji and I met with him at the park yesterday and walked the perimeter.

Definite potential.
