I think we're doing this again...

Who's interested in volunteering to support this one?

last year's thread on the same subject -->http://discap.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=111&t=3020

Yeah Tim! Do it again!
It was a great outreach event.
Can we put on a putting clinic over the kayak pool? Please!
I'll raffle off a car

If you do it again, I might be able to help out if needed.
Let me know in PM what time slot and day ASAP.
A great event for getting the word out for the SUPER sport of Disc Golf.

Greg, Mel,
I hope you'll come out again, please!

I'm still hoping to confirm the expo organizers will give us the same space... a lot of people probably started drooling over it last year when they saw what we did with it...

Mike S,
you able to reach out to Prodigy again?

I have reached out to Innova again. I will reach out to Dynamic.

I'm hoping everyone who volunteered last year* will come out again! I'm going to probably need more help than i did last year... i will be putting lefty :shifty:

Will Empire Discs or TBushore Enterprises (or whatever the name is) please spring for a Square account and flip some plastic? The alternative is DisCap donation discs (which i think we should do again...perhaps in lower quantity)

I'll be able to help the 19th. I've been waiting to commit because March is usually stupid busy. I'll be there all Sunday though.

Day 1:
Awesome day!

Met 2 people considering building a course

DisCap got invited to do a thing at Valley Cats game (thinking closest the pin throw from home plate to center field or something 8-) )

We burned through the minis... got some donations, and oh yeah... ADK sports relocated Gore Mountain to some other booth, or they went to the wrong one (?) - they were supposed to be our neighbor - and we inherited an extra booth space... that's some seriously high value real estate that fell in to our laps   :D 8-)

Thank you
Mike S (all day + a/v equipment + practice basket)

Day 2:
Awesome (and long) day!

Met at least 1 other person considering a course, a guy who wanted to buy Schwartz' basket on the spot, a guy from a local college who invited us to teach (summer camp style) disc golf, and a grant writer. Tailored communications will be going out to these people in addition to the "blanket email" with all the info we promised the attendees who shared their email addresses. Saratoga Spa is going to see a ton of disc golfers. I am hoping we all see more kids / families out there (all of the courses). We met people who have played all of them; Minekill, Colonial Acres, Central Park, J-Park, Hyzer, Saratoga Spa, etc

We slowly, but inevitably, burned through the last of the minis... got some donations, gave away hats/shirts. We had some people with physical disabilities find our sport/addiction quite appealing and had some grueling putt sessions. When you have a a line of 10 people (more than half children 10 or younger) waiting for their turn to putt and you're the guy picking up all of the putts.... exhausting. Of course the "pain" of it wears off when you realize you just rapidly impacted those 10 people likely to become hooked on our game. At least they know what the game is now and they know that they like playing :)

Thank you
Mike S (all day)
Jaimen H (all day)

Also a guy who wanted to straight up donate his two old baskets from the 80's. I'm going to volunteer right now to go pick them up and nose through his old disc collection.

Thank You Tim DeFranco for spearheading The best Outreach event that DisCap will participate in
all year!!! The crowd is all about outdoor activities and Disc Golf is becoming part of everyone's summer schedule. Mike and Jaimen are the stalwarts that made our booth a success, much thanks for all the
time you spent there!
Saratoga course is going to see a TON of usage this season.
Mike put together a great chart describing Disc Golf's growth, could you post that chart somewhere for us to look at online?
Thanks again Tim, and all the other volunteers who helped create new golfers.

And it was great to get out there and grow the sport. It was great when someone hesitated, stepped up, and then made a basket. We will def see more people out there playing this season!
