Skylands runs a monthly mini tournament at each of their four courses (Wolfe Woods, Warwick, Campgaw and Buzzy's) and it's a ton of fun. I was thinking with four courses now in this area it would be cool to try it out.

They're very informal one round tourneys, one time per month, cash only, with three divisions: Open ($20-25), Am ($15) and Rec ($10). No age or gender protection. 100% of each divisions entry fees go to payout. Tags are obviously on the line.

To run it you don't need anything more than scorecards and a payout spreadsheet. Scoreport is optional since it's only one round. I'm happy to step up and run a test monthly this fall if there is enough interest.

Skylands rotates to a different course each month and I believe they run it April - November, meaning two events at each course per year.

I will pretty much never be able to make dubs due to the start time and job commitments, and I was thinking that this would be a cool way to involve others who have the same problem.

One weekend a month. Rotating course. One round. Cash only. 3 divisions. 10:00-11:00 am start. Relaxed rule enforcement e.g. only those that pertain to actually playing. Is there any interest?

Chris, I personally miss the monthly tag matches. I like it when tags are on the line and it is nice to get more than one 4some playing to get some tag changes.

Plus it would be a great intro for some of the newer players to experience tourney style play without all of the hype of a tourney. Or for the people that don't want to travel too far to play in an event.

I am in full support.

Glad to see all the positive feedback! Looks like there is definitely some interest in this.

Bryan, I completely agree about having bigger tag matches and introducing newer players to tourney golf. Plus it's always fun for folks who typically play for plastic to win some $$ playing singles.

Jeff, I didn't have a particular day in mind. Either one would work and if we start at 10:00 on a Sunday in the fall even catching the 1:00 NFL games would be feasible.

Love the proposed schedule Jeff! I was thinking something right along those lines.

Very cool idea... tourney play without spending the whole day bouncing plastic discs off of trees and rocks and chains.

"Honey, I'm going to spend the morning at the course. See you after lunch." has a much better ring to it than "see you at dinner" or "see you after dinner has gotten cold".

You can catch the game at a nearby watering hole right after the round.....
Village Pizzeria @ Hyzer
Bier Abbey @ CPS
Halfway House @ J-Park
Ronnie Mac's @ Hunter

All fine establishments that are already disc golfer friendly. We could even do the payouts there. ;)

i think this is a great idea.

let's pick the first one and promote it well. post on site, flyers, talk it up at dubz and such. i'll put it on the calendar once you tell me. might trigger more club involvement from more players too.

We've got enough local golfers to pull this off. I'm in. Scheduling other tournaments will always be probematic.
Rotating courses is the way to go. If we can get a dozen folks each month I'd call it successful.

Sept 16th @ Hyzer................. gives all the locals a chance to play the course before the Battle.
