I have finally given up on fighting the severe metastatic prostate cancer I have. There is nothing left since can do for me so I at St Peters Hospice Inn at St Peters Hospital in Albany NY 12208. We will see how palliative care can help me. Who knows I may make a come back.

Ven,
You're in my thoughts as well. I keep your opinions and ideas in mind every time I'm out on the Chatham course searching for new fairways.
The grass is growing in the gravel mine and it's begging for us to come out and throw.

Moved to this thread by Kenji.

I didn't know where else to post this, Kevin Dayer, Ven's friend/member of the Saturday morning crew emailed me this...

Hi Jeff,

Kevin Dayer, from the "Saturday Morning" disc crew at the J, here. As you or may not know Ven's presently in hospice and his condition is quite bad, his wife Mel just called me to say they think he's only got a couple of days left.

She has asked me to reach out to the DISCAP gang and let them know that the family has requested that no one beyond family and close family friends visit him at this time.

Would you be so kind as to post this on the DISCAP discussion board as soon as possible to let the folks in the disc world know?

I'm sorry to be the bearer of this news; Ven's been a close friend of mine for over 20 years and we're absolutely torn up over it. He put up a monumental defense against his sickness, outliving his doctors' original prognosis by many years, which allowed us to have him in our lives that much longer. But unfortunately we've reached the end of the road and are now faced with having to say goodbye to a very unique soul.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,
Kevin

Rest In Peace Ven.
All my best to Mel and family.

Ven will be missed. His energy will continue and Chatham's course will be great because he
had the drive to push it forward and we will finish his dream.

Thanks for all the good times!

I remember about 2 years ago when another friend of mine passed away from cancer I was talking to Ven about it. I didn't even know he had cancer at that point.
He said to me "Cancer sucks but, it is beatable I sure your friend fought really hard. I'm fighting really hard. You can't let it get you down. I look good for a guy who was told he had 6 months to live. You know how long ago that was? That was 4 years ago and I'm still here and I plan on staying here." (Not an exact quote but, pretty close.)
I've only known Ven for a little over 3 years and if his doctors were correct I never would have met such an awesome guy.
